Alternative Fuels

Substitution is agreed on fuel price and paid for in the kiln. Heat consumption, gas volume, flame temperature and lost clinker all move at once, and the fuel saving is often smaller than the production it costs.
What a given alternative fuel rate really costs in heat, capacity and flame temperature, how much of the calorific value the kiln actually receives, and whether the money still works after the lost clinker and the carbon are counted.
Compare fuels and rates against the same kiln, keep each assessment with the date and the price assumptions it was made on, and hand a decision sheet to the people who sign for it.
